Absolutely. Just look at Lederman's scorecards as evidence of that. Ever since Floyd bashed them in 1999 they have been out to see the end of this guy. Problem is he never went away and actually became one of the greatest ever.

then they need to stop letting that get the best of them. if u dont like how he acts outside of the ring with his brash ****iness and remarks during pre and post fight interviews, then deal with it. so what if they wanted see xyz beat floyd because floyd's an ass when it comes to marketing and promoting his fights with that ****y, bad guy image. get over it, just deal with the fact that he beat the daylights out of your boy again and will walk off into the sun set with another check under his win column! this is boxing, they need to judge him as a boxer, not a person. and floyd is right with what he said about jim lampley, cause i've had the opportunity to witness jim lampley at some clubs after big HBO fights that took place at MSG

This was Probably my most agreeable post from you... You stated Exactly what Commentators roles are in a clear way...

But where I disagree is the appoarch...:

As a Commentator you can call Mayweather on his bull****...But you also have a responsibility to provide context...

As a Commentator you can voice the concerns of the fans, but to be fair you must provide both sides of the argument From and for Both SET OF FANS...NOT JUST ONE...

and more importantly if you go an 5 minute rant of how

          "Mayweather is Ducking Cotto"
Equally You give a 5 minute explaining Mayweather's Point of View of not fighting Cotto.

As a commentator you have to wear a Hat that fits on both Sides, not just one. Because like it our not... All Fans Dont agree that

"Mayweather is a *****" or "Mayweather is Scared of Cotto"

Fans of Both Sides, Pay to see Mayweather Fight, Not Just Floyd Haters...

So it would be inappropriate for a commentator to say inflammatory things about Floyd, for one set of Fans, and not give equal representation of an argument for the other set of Fans.

          Like I said before:
Would you go to Fox News TO GET a fair assesment of Barack *****..?

And it is starting to get to the point where the HBO CREW are starting to become Floyd Mayweather's FOX NEWS

          To drive Home this POINT:

Like I said Before From a Fan Point of View, You are entitled to this opinion about a Floyd...

Because you pay to see him fight

You can be subjective..and bias in your opinion because you paid your hard working money.

But The HBO crew does not pay to see him fight....
They get paid to see him fight...

Therefore they have a responsibility to not call the fight as Fan, but as a Paid and Fair Commentator....

and the problem is, that they dont...

Like I said before They are Paid and have a responsibility to the sport to be FAIR COMMENTATOR'S, not AVID FANS.... SO any bias they have against certain fighters should be set aside as soon as they start calling the fight

The Point Floyd is Trying to Make is that, The HBO crew Calls His fights recently as if they want him to Lose...

          *BUMP*

I'd rather that than fake compliments just for the sake of commentating ethics.
This is what I feel. I don't want some PC sitting there keeping track of how many good things they said about one of the fighters and then feel they have to say good things about the other. I want their honest opinion. If they think a fighter sucks then I want to know.

Its kinda sad because I really think Floyd is a good guy, he is just very out spoken. All the trash talking he does I get the feeling is usually just to try to get more draw to the fights. I mean you see how much he trashed Hatton before the fight but after the fight you would have thought they were best friends.

And argue if you want, but when Floyd talks about retirement and how people always think there is someone else he should beat he is completely true. What about Paul Williams? Cotto? Margarito? Mosley? Quintana? Thats 3 years of fights right there he would have to do before some people would think he should retire. And by 3 years there will be more names to that list.
Floyd should've kept his mouth shut and exited the boxing world gracefully... if he wanted to keep it real, he could've used better language that didn't rile people up so much. Especially considering that HBO runs the boxing world at the elite level, and if floyd wants to do business with them he could at least give them that bitter pill with some sugar-coating. that's what promoting is all about, sugar-coating **** so people want to buy it. floyd isn't a very good promoter of anything but himself, but that's not good for his promoting business.

Horus your looking at this issue through race and not through what's obvious to alot of people here on BS, no offense. All the fighters that you mentioned HBO announcers have favoritism for are lo and behold much more exciting fighters than Jermain Taylor and Mayweather. Simple as, no racism at all. Jermain Taylor had put on lackluster performances against Spinks and Wright and here comes a KO monster who puts on exciting fights. Obviously they are going to want the exciting guy to win. It's better for the sport. Same with Mayweather. His last fights before retirement were snoozefests. He won but his whole thug, macho attitude combined with his boring split decision victories when he promised to "Ice Motha****as" grated on a good amount of people. Nothing to do with race. Every fighter you mentioned your looking at it as Black vs Other Races. When you should be looking at their performances in the ring. That's why they have their biases. Not against black fighters but against non-exciting fighters. Jermain Taylor and Mayweather do not bring anywhere the excitement in a fight than all the other fighters from the other races thats why. Winky adding his 2 cents in lo and behold he's another good but boring fighter.

Would rather an announcer be fairly honest then fair just for the sake of being fair.

                      Don't confuse bias with racism.
