Leonard was fast...but I wouldn't say the fastest ever...nor would I say he has no equals...

Mayweather wasn't (nor tried to be) a Leonard/DLH/Jones Jr esque flurry arm puncher...if he wanted to, I am sure he could....but Floyd slowed it down just a notch and focused more on quick release, accuracy, timing and effectiveness with his combinations

These are the type of punchers they were:

      Leonard/DLH/Jones Jr - 1-2-3-4-5-6-7
*speedy on tape, where about 1-3 of those punches land

      Mayweather, Whitaker - 1....2-3.....4....5-6..7
*more fluid, where about 5-6 of those punches land

Given his size, Jones's hand speed was the most amazing to me.

That was damn fast, but hardly any accuracy as half of them didn't connect.

Between Leonard Jones and Mayweather, Leonard is the only one that actually had snap behind those combinations. They were very effective inthe Hearns fight and his win for the gold medal in 76.

If you want to see real speed, just replay Roy Jones Jr versus James Toney.
                Roy's speed was unreal.

SRL and Floyd were better boxers. Someone said SRL had some power behind his shots, well so did Floyd. All those guys at championship level do.
At least enough to keep people off of them and discourage them.

But as far as pure ring speed RJJ jr had no equal throughout the 90's.

what always impressed me most about Leonard was his accuracy u watch how many times he misses or lets his man of the hook once he gets them hurt his punch selection and finishing ability was second to none and could only be matched by Mike Tyson IMO

his hand speed was very fast but i would have to say RJJ was the fastest cause outta of Mosley,PBF ,Leonard he was able to KO people with with one punch with speed and power combined a lot of Mosleys and Meldrick Taylors combintations had nothing on them i know Shane knocked a lot of people out at LW but

i dont consider Floyd to be as fast as Mosley ,Jones TBH i think he has great timining of space and distance but i dont consider him to be in the league of Jones,Mosley i think Zab Judah is as quick if not quicker than Floyd and i think we saw that when they fought each other
