Cotto's has never experienced Margarito's punch. SOB hurts people. Granted, Cotto hits hard, but no where near the same level. Just look at some of the pictures of their victims. Stary eyed surprise coming for Cotto.

This will be a great fight! I really can't wait for this one to come. A month is too long damn it. Let's hope the bitching doesn't get too childish leading up to this fight as that always ruins what should be everyone looking forward to just a great and important fight. It is huge for both guys, to say the least.

Margarito needs to win to get rid of the Williams loss, which wasn't that bad a loss and certainly wasn't an arse whipping as some make it out to be. I also think many are overrating his punching power. He is not a devastating power puncher but simply a non stop punching machine that will just wear you out. He has a great deal of heart and determination though which can make up for the lack of skills he has compared to Cotto. It's very possible that he could win on determination alone and while I doubt that there is going to be a knockout in this fight, if it came for Margarito it would come at the tail end of the fight.

Margarito, if he wins, will confirm what many people have been saying and that is that he is the most dangerous fighter in the WW division and he also needs to win as he needs one big fight to really set him up as the top dog instead of playing back runner to the other fighters as he has done for so long. He also needs one big win to cement his legacy and rid the losses previously.

Cotto on the other hand needs this win to solidify his standing as the best WW today. He has fought a large number of the better fighters out there today and with this win could really cement himself as a runner for being the top fighter in the sport today along with Calzaghe and Pacquiao. He will need to really fight rather savvy to try and keep from tiring in the later rounds where Margarito can do some damage but he also has the ability to break Margarito down with a strong body attack and constant hard jab to the face. I think the better boxing skills will play the biggest role in this fight for Cotto. If he can't bring them into play then it is quite possible that he will lose. If he can implement them in his fight game then it is quite likely that he will be able to win by simply fighting Margarito when he needs to and boxing when he needs to.

Lots of people are saying that if Cotto trades with Margarito then he will lose badly, but, what I think most people are forgetting here is that Cotto is a very strong puncher himself and may actually set up his combination's better than Margarito does. Margarito is a brutal finisher and if he hurts Cotto he may very well be able to do what no one else has been able to do when he has been hurt. This part of Cotto is being greatly overplayed though, which, if you actually look at the fights in which he was briefly hurt or stunned he was never in really serious trouble and came back quite quickly to stop the other opponents. That cannot be overlooked. Whenever Cotto has been hurt, he has come back to KO the guy.

Whether Cotto will be able to hurt Margarito will also play a big factor in this fight. If he can hurt him he may very well be able to break him down with the better boxing skills and then take him out. Obviously Margarito is very tough and it is highly unlikely that any of that will happen and while the boxing skill of Cotto is being played up as a big factor I don't think we will know how big until the night as Margarito is not as unskilled a brawler as many make him out to be. Nonetheless, I think that it will turn out to be the big difference in the fight and if Cotto can effectively use his superior jab, speed and combination punching then I see a close UD for Cotto in a great fight. It's about time we had two champions willing to put it all on the line to see who the superior fighter really is, instead of leaving various titles and mantles to do the fighting for them.

Most Cotto fans try to put Margarito down because they fear him. They don't want to believe that there's any possibility of Margarito knocking out Cotto. I'm glad Cotto is training very hard so there won't be any excuses. I can't even imagine how hard Margarito is training right now, but I love the fact that Margarito's camp is quiet. I said it once and I'll say it again it's the quiet ones that you really, really have to watch out for. Nature will take its course on July 26th.
