How funny would it be...

if mayweather stays away for a year or two and either margarito or cotto prevail to the top welterweight in the world and actually become the CHAMPION of 147...

then mayweather comes back (like we all expect him to) and cotto nor margarito (who ever wins) refuses to give floyd a title fight?

I just thought about this yesterday.

Floyd strung along cotto and margarito always making them think, "a title fight with the best at 147 and the world; is only one more win away"...

cotto or margarito could easily do this in return...even though im sure the money would change their mind i personally wouldnt give floyd a title shot if i was the winner of cotto v. margarito.

I'd still be mad about getting strung along for years and wouldnt give floyd the fight he wants because he screwed with me for years.

anyway...i think its funny.

is this a possiblity? with the potential of money i'd say no...but still something to consider.

That would make them look extremely bad, especially considering Floyd is the best in the world and everyone should want to fight him. It's the ultimate goal in boxing: to be able to say you are the best. Neither Cotto nor Margarito can say that if Floyd is still fighting.

I think it would look bad... why wouldn't cotto or margarito fight a guy that's been retired for 2 years???

The money and legacy would all be there.... that's like pulling a nacho beristain (passing up a fight with pacquiao and fighting unknwon chris john)... it's a ****** move.
