He is already reconize The Greatest of this Generation...!
only thing left for him to be his "The Greatest of All time"
All these people called him the greatest of this Generation:
Bernard Hopkins
SRL
Shane Mosley
Oscar De la Hoya
Ricky Hatton
Lennox Lewis
Tommy Hearns
Wlad Kitz
Paulie Magg.
Bob Arum
Larry Merchant
Freddie Roach
and etc.....
If Floyd is already Greatest of His Generation
What else can he do...If he cant become the greatest fighter ever..??
He is already the P4P BEST since 2005
He is already the undisputed Lineal Champion
He is already recognized around the world the best boxer alive
He is already accomplish what no other fighter in history has never done
The only thing he has left to accomplish is to be call the The Greatest of All Time
If he cant accomplish the status of Greatest Fighter Ever Why continue to fight...
It is obvious people will never give him that status so why continue fighting for something he already has... And that is the recognition as the best boxer alive and P4P best....
What else can he get that he already havent got status wise..???

The Main Question once again:
What else can he get that he already havent got status wise..???
I still rate him top 5 or 10 best Jr. Lightweight and lightweight of all time. A win over Cotto would have been so huge though. It may still happen. Once he is away for a few months he might get the itch back.

1. Cotto
2. Margarito
3. Forrest
4. Mosely
If he's been more active he could've done that within two years and be done with boxing.
It really depends how long you class an era though, if i class an Era as say a passing from one long reigning P4P fight to another so from RJJ to Mayweather not counting RJJ then I'd consider Floyd the best of the era.

Name me one fighter than went from being middleweight champ to heavyweight champ?!
That's way more impressive than anything Floyd has ever done.

Ray Leonard was battered by Terry Norris, Robinson was beaten 19 times does it make them lesser fighters?
Being the First guy in 100 years to win titles from Middleweight to Heavyweight, he's a great fighter even you must admit that and P4P there isn't much between him and Floyd. The level at which Roy fought with the Flawed style he used is just a testament to how skilled he was.

He is one of the greatest....He is probably the top 3 Lhw of all time....
But he is not the greatest of this Generation...when you are comparing him to Floyd.
Mayweather is boxing’s best all-around fighter period.
Look @ his dominance over his opposition. Few fighters have ever been as statistically superior to his opponents than Mayweather, who rarely loses rounds, much less fights. A recent CompuBox analysis determined that the “Pretty Boy” leads the sport in “plus-minus” rating – and not by a little. The “plus-minus” is the difference between a fighter’s average connect percentage and that of his opponents, and Mayweather’s plus-30 (46 percent to 16 percent) is seven percentage points ahead of his closest competition, Juan Diaz, who owns a plus-23.
Mayweather’s rating compares favorably to the prime Roy Jones (plus-23) and Pernell Whitaker (plus-16). For the record
Look at this PBF stat.....
WELTERWEIGHT CHAMP
FORMER JR. MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMP (07)
FORMER JUNIOR WELTERWEIGHT CHAMP (’05)
FORMER LIGHTWEIGHT (2002-04)
FORMER JR. LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMP (1998-00)
17-0-0, 8 KO’S IN CHAMPIONSHIP FIGHTS
9-0-0 (6) at jr. light.
4-0-0 (1) at light.
1-0-0 (1) at jr. welter.
2-0-0 (0) at welter.
1-0-0 (0) at jr. middle.
17 CHAMPIONSHIP FIGHTS HAVE LASTED 166 ROUNDS AND AVERAGED 9.8 ROUNDS
(63% of his pro rounds have been fought in championship fights)
38 FIGHTS HAVE LASTED 265 ROUNDS AND AVERAGED 7.0 ROUNDS
(45% of his fights have been championship fights)
The guy is the greatest of this generation..!!!
