Originally posted by KnockoutTheFat View PostI gotta be honest with you, I haven't been following basketball as much since the NBA on NBC stopped running, so I don't know the relationship between Marion and the Suns. But I do know that Shaq is 36 and only has like two years left in the league I think (I don't even know if there good years anyway). IMO Shaq got away with murder with that contract. Granted, the Suns did have Grant Hill to fill Shawn Marion's void, but he's almost the same age as Shaq and I know damn well he isn't gonna play as well as he did when he was on the Pistons and Magic. He's probably gonna leave town soon anyway.
Shaq didint get away with murder with that contract because when he got it 4 years ago he should have been the MVP over steve nash that year. Grant Hill doesnt really fill marions void because hes basically 100 percent offense with 0 percent defense, unlike marion, who can gaurd all 5 positions. Basically Shaq was a risky move, but the thing is, the suns have no viable big man OTHER than him, when they gave away kurt thomas to seattle to stay under the luxury tax, that left them with amare at center, hes not a true center, nor does he play any semblence of defense. Shaq at least gives them a viable big man in the paint, something the suns didint have before on the defensive end.
