You really think that a guy who fought in the heavyweight division when he didn't need to, considering he could have made cruiser or even possibly light heavyweight (in a way that wouldn't have made him a punching bag like he was tonight) is cowardly? That is absurd.
While he didn't fight in a come forward, all out offensive style, any of your favorite fighters wouldn't fight that way either if they were fighting 2 or 3 weight classes above where they should be fighting.
Margarito wouldn't come forward (or if he did, he would never win a fight) at light heavyweight.
Arce wouldn't win a single fight at welterweight if he fought the way he does.
And for a guy who is as nice as Byrd, and a guy who did take the risk of fighting at heavyweight when he could have fought at light heavyweight to get knocked out by a light heavyweight prospect, made me pretty sad. It is a bad way to end the career of such a good fighter.
Byrd who fought Klitch twice, Tua, Ichabuchi all WELL above his weight a coward????? Viva is so narrow minded it aint even laughable anymore, its just sad and annoying.Last edited by Left2body; 05-17-2008, 12:17 AM.

any man who runs from his opponents all night and is afraid to go toe to toe is a coward. it was great to see him get knocked out tonight as revenge for all the boring fights he has given the boxing fans. he always runs and never gives the fans a knockout.

Yea thats right...nothing.
but seriously. Chris Byrd is no coward. Infact he walked down George a few times...Byrd (in my opinion) is out of his prime; losing 40 something lbs for this fight didnt help...and apparently george isnt no one dimensional fighter either.
Byrd isnt a coward.
He showed heart. he got knocked down and got right back up...3 times he got knocked down but he still wanted to fight...thats heart...
if he was a coward he would have waited for the 10 count...but he didnt.

Byrd a coward, hardly. That man stepped up and fought the biggest and baddest men on the planet. Figure only aq few years before byrd turned heavyweight he was fighting in the ams at like 160 or so and the man had great skill back then too.
Another ****** claiming the purest boxer on the planet to benothing but a coward. ****, you'd have to give the guy great props for fighting who he did. Also smart guy, its called boxing not knockout. Part of boxing is movement and if the opponents cant figure his game out then he is doing something on an extremely high level unlike your posting ability.
Byrd is has and always will be a great person, the man has class. Try to find another nicer guy anywhere let alone the boxing world. Also find me a better "boxer" than him in the heavyweight division in the last 20 years.
