Of course he can't back up.

Alot of people are overrating the potential of this fight. I predict that it won't even be competitive. Only two things are gonna happen:

    1. Cotto will break him down and get him out of there

    2. Cotto will realize that he can't weaken him and therefore he will back up and start boxing him winning a comfortable decision. Think of what Clottey did to Margarito the first 3/4 rounds and imagine Cotto doing it for at least 10 out of the 12 rounds.

Wrong. Down against Danny Perez, Miguel Gonzalez, and some other scrub early in his career from a body shot. He was rocked twice by Santos and wobbled by a counter Joshua Clottey right hand. Cintron aside,...name one genuine puncher he's even fought?

Mosley was badly hurt by a big puncher in Forrest after a pretty nasty clash of heads. Also hurt again late to the body. Other than that fight, Shane has never been hurt fighting against top competition and bigger men.

And I'd agree with that. Cintron is the biggest punching welterweight. But, his power is greatly diminished when he can't get extention on his shots. Stay at a distance, he'll knock your head off. Fight him chest to chest, and watch his power diminish and him start to piss his pants (i.e. the Feleciano fight). Cintron is a Kostya Tszyu like puncher, where he does well against people who try to box him, because it leaves them on the outside to absorb the full sting of his shots. But put pressure on him, and he has problems. That's the reason Ricky Hatton could smother Tszyu all night and not really feel the effects of his punch, but then get in serious trouble against moderate, but sharp punchers like Eamon Magee, Luis Collazo, and Mayweather.

Do you think Santos and Clottey punch harder than Cintron since they both put more hurt on Tony than Kermit?

santos and clottey werent even close on knocking out margarito
santos stunned him yes but he was getting punished before the fight was stopped due to a cut
and clottey got schooled in the later rounds by the relentless margarito despite margarito having a sprained ankle
cotto is not gonna fight the same way he fought against mosley hes gonna be more worried about his defense if hes able to hurt margarito he wont be able to follow up his attack due to margarito ability to punch at all times even when badly hurt
kinda like when marquez hurt pacquiao he couldnt continue his attack cuz pac could hurt or drop him at any time

As Lujan began to tire, Margarito started backing him and took over the fight.

The N'Dou fight was a very good learning experience for Cotto, since I felt that N'Dou had just beat Sharmba Mitchell. It shows Cotto's ability to adjust and go to Plan B when tearing through an opponent doesn't work.

If nothing more, Cotto can be effective using his legs more so than Margarito.
Great observation - the NDou fight showed how Cotto deals with pressure - jab, counter, move. With that, Cotto has to be in supreme shape to sustain the whole fight against Margo. Now at 147, Cotto is offensively more versatile and will attack more than the NDou fight.
