Not once did he get beat up in any one of his fights. He had some tough fights, but none of which he got his ass handed to him.
Not once did he look outclassed.
Think about this for a minute. A guy who fought everyone who was willing to step in the ring with him, everybody from the top contenders to the legends of the sport.
He was a brilliant boxer able to slug, pressure, back up, infight, outsmart and outwill the best fighters over the course of a decade.
The only thing you can say against him is that two of the punches landed on him were two of the hardest punches any fighter has ever had to taste.
Yes, that may be a little over the top, but you get the point.
I wouldn't say Calzaghe was better because he didn't get knocked out.
He did get knocked down a few times, last against the crushingly heavy-handed 43-year old Hopkins.
It's not because of skill he didn't get knocked out by those people who knocked him down. It's simply because those weren't devastating punchers like McCall and Rahman was.
Good, old-fashioned luck is what I call that.
Lewis sought out the best fighters he could, unlike Calzaghe.
I'm sorry, but Calzaghe is nowhere near the champion Lennox was.
He might be the best guided european fighter ever.
Does it hurt your feelings?
