Hopkins doesn't draw enough buys. (all his big pay days have been because of his opponents, as every1 is aware).

      Thats why its non-PPV. lol
Not entirely true. Hopkins is one of few the elite boxers that can sell PPV's. He was the bigger name against Tarver and Winky for sure, but like I said before it takes two to tango. If Calzaghe was more known in the states it sell for sure. Actually I'm not sure it wouldn't sell, it probably wouldn't do to bad (there has been a lot of press coverage regarding this fight).

Only two guys active can sell a PPV alone and they are ODH and probably Mayweather now.

ODH, Mayweather, Pacquiao, Hopkins, Roy Jones, Trinidad, Cotto, Mosley and a only a few other names can sell PPV's. But again, with exception to ODH/Mayweather, it takes two names (for example noboday bought Roy Jones/Hanshaw, but put Roy Jones with another big name and it will sell).

From what I understand Planet Hollywood Casino gave enough of a site fee that both party's were paid enough so this could be on HBO not PPV.

Great for boxing fans we should thank all the Hatton fans because they have showed UK fighters to be in high demand so the casinos give huge site fee's.
This is what I was thinking. Anyone who has checked out ticket prices knows prices are pretty crazy, $350 face value for seats in the nose bleed section. They probably figure that while American's won't pay this kind of money, they Brits will. They even have a punch of hotel/ticket packages that I assume are supposed to catered to the Brits.

It's a big fight, but remember, Calzaghe is still relatively unknown in America. I'm not complaining though. I'm glad I don't have to pay.

Calzaghe never fought in USA before. The casual fans would definately not pay to see him. Also, Hopkins is old and boring.
