He did a horrendously one sided job as referee. He called Hatton for holding when Hatton wasn't holding, Floyd was. I'm not saying it had anything to do with the anthem, I don't believe that, but he certainly wasn't unbiased.
Fine, I'll agree with you there but I think it had to do something will Hatton's style or perhaps he was influenced by a higher power to pay extra attention to Hatton based on his inside clinching and rough housing in previous fights. The problem is people are suggesting is was a national biased and not a biased based on the fighters actions.

Every referee is going to have different standards of what they find acceptable or not acceptable and I suppose you can call this a bias. However, being biased because of personal feelings against a fighter or nationalistic pride is something different and completely unprofessional and I have a problem with these claims against Cortez.

Or they could just do this anthem again....I mean, c'mon, who in their right mind can "boo" this????

Just noticed JT smirking when he takes a look at the t.v.

****ing hell. You could get shot for that in Britain. And quite right too.

That's the worst thing about anthems being sung in the US: The people singing should consider it to be an honour to be asked to represent their country. Instead they seem to consider it an opportunity to put something on their resume and show off their vocal talent. If they just got up there and sung the anthem I would say "Good show, very patriotic" but they actually approach it more like this:

"Oh say can you see ee ee ee ee ee ee ee EE EE EE ee EE ee EE ee EE...
In the er eh er ehe dawn's earlyieieie lah ah ah eh ah ah eh ah t"

JUST ****ING SING IT LIKE YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO!

When they do anthems in Britain the anthems are played by a band, not sung by a minor celebrity. They should be sung by the sportsmen in the contest and by the crowd. Any boos from the other team are drowned out by patriotic singing on the part of the people who have paid to watch, not the ****** who has been paid to butcher the anthem.

        How it should be done.

the booing of the anthem recieved alot of bad press in the UK too, it probably wouldn't have happened again.

but the anthems are normally cringeworthy anyway and are no loss to the occasion i don't think.

The British national anthem may be ****ty but it sounds better than any other national anthem in the world when sung by 35,000 drunk men.

Man, that video was boring. You need to loosen up Squeal. Kels turned the national anthem out. Seems to me all of Britain is against a little flash. Ricky Hatton sure was...and we saw what happened to him. "50 on the wrist." lol.

              All in good fun.

What was funny was everyone's reactions. Dibella trying not to laugh, JT smirking backstage, Sugar Shane smiling like a little kid, and all the white people in the ring clapping off-beat.

It's a shame the Americans won't get to hear 'Land of My Fathers' because its a fantastic anthem sung with real national pride. The Welsh care about their anthem in the same way the Americans do. On balance, however, I think it best to avoid the Hatton situation, where a minority of idots disrespected the anthem of the host country - its just so rude, like being invited into someones house then wiping your arse on their curtains.

I don't think anthems should be played at boxing anyway.

I mean your not representing your country. It a completely individual sport.

Patriotism only comes into it on here and amongst fans, because depending on where we are from we see more of certain fighters. We are hardly going to back the other guy.

                      Simply The Best!!

                      THAT IS HOW ITS DONE!!
                      Simply the Best! =D

I love our national anthem, and altho i thought it was funny when we booed the american anthem, I agree that it was disrespectful, and shouldnt have been done. I do believe it had an effect on Cortez, as he was clearly bias towards Hatton, even though he let Hatton fight in his own style in earlier encounters, and wouldnt let Hatton so much as throw a punch without tapping his shoulder and dragging on him.

I would love to see a rematch at Wembley and would definitely buy a ticket, hopefully we get a British referee and show it at an earlier hour!

I would like to see the National anthems being played though, especially as it is the Welsh anthem, and this will be the biggest fight in Welsh boxing for a long time, and Calzaghe will KO Poppins!
The american anthem would prob get booed again though! Haha... they have such pathetic fans... probably because they dont play football in america, and dont know how proper fans act!! =P
