Cotto does not need Mayweather. While Mayweather is taking rematches with DLH and Hatton, Cotto will be doing something significant in cleaning up the welterweight division. Cotto will fight whoever is thrown in front of him and I wouldn't be surprised if he fights all the major welterweights of our time before his career is done and over. Because of this we will know how he really stood up against other opponents and just how good he really was leaving no doubts unlike Floyd Mayweather. Cotto doesn't need Mayweather to make great fights he has Margarito, Cintron, Clottey, and Williams still that he can fight. Mayweather can fight Hatton and DLH however many times he wants. After all, he is all about the money! If he continues to do so I hope he is not surprised if he is surpassed by someone else as the greatest welter of our era though.

If Cotto fights everyone Mayweather refused to fight and beats them, he will be much better remembered then Mayweather.
