HOPKINS: I'M DADDY OF THEM ALL
By Tom Hopkinson
Bernard Hopkins has told Joe Calzaghe: I'm glad your dad will be there to see me destroy you.
Enzo Calzaghe will be in Joe's corner when he takes on the man known as The Executioner.
They will do battle at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas on April 19 - and Hopkins has been talking up the clash in his inimitable style.
He said: "My job is to give you the profound message now so, after the fight, if you are fair you will say, 'He told me he was going to make Joe ordinary, that he was going to make a father save his son on the emotions of having him around to fight another day', like Tito Trinidad's father did in the 12th round when we fought.
"I love to box fighters who have their father in the corner because I know a trainer respects and somewhat loves his fighter ... but a father. A father who must go home when the rest leave, a father who has changed Pampers, a father who will do what a father has to do in a time of crisis
"A fighter, which Joe is, has heart. He's going to fight until he dies. But his father cannot relate to that because 'That's my son'.
"My father's 6ft under, so when I go into the ring I have to bring that out and let his father see if he can see his son for another day."
Hopkins will tax that British ass. I wouldn't be surpised if Joe wasn't recognizable after the fight. Win or lose.
