that's one area where kevin rooney helped.

rooney may have not been a very good pro trainer, but tyson and rooney had the right chemistry.

Rooney helped out Mike when Tyson had his spells of laziness and losing concentration. Tyson was getting too lazy against Thomas, but picked it up in round 6. Tyson struggled early on against Tucker, but adjusted and even outjabbed the 6'5, 84 inch wingspan, Tucker.

      Rooney knows his boxing.

Why Tyson ever got rid of him I'll never understand. They seemed to work like a charm. Tyson got clinched a lot by Tucker and Bonecrusher and without his cornermen he would've probably lost his mind and almost did against Smith.

Tyson is one of my favorite heavyweights ever (the others are Muhammad Ali, Larry Holmes and Joe Louis). I liked the urgent, aggressive no-nonsense approach in disposing of his opponents. Arguably the greatest power puncher ever, and finisher in the business. Once he had his man in trouble, it was curtains! I wouldn't find it difficult to squeeze him into my top ten greatest heavies.

Sure the guy was (is?) a nut case ("I wanna eat his children"), but one hell of a fighter!

Cheers for that clip I'd never seen that before. See his eyes rolling about he didn't know what day it was.
