And, it's from youtube?!
Thanks for posting the video, buddy!
That's the second meeting between Villaflor and Shibata which was in Hawaii. Shibata had earlier beaten Villaflor by controversial and very close UD also in Hawaii.
Shibata was the WBC Featherweight titlist. He won that crown by retiring Vicente Saldivar in the 12th of a slated 15 round fight back in 1970. He moved up after a few successful defenses and faced Villaflor twice for the WBA Jr. Lightweight crown. When he lost by 1st round KO as shown in that video, he faced Ricardo Arredondo and won the WBC version. He had three successful defenses of the WBC crown then lost it to Alfredo Escalera.
Wish someone could post more Villaflor fights...? The most violent fight that Villaflor figured in was the one against Morito Kashiwaba. The duo threw bombs all through the 13 rounds that the fight lasted.
Villaflor first won the WBA crown at the age of 20. He retired at the age of 24 after surrendering the title to defensive specialist Samuel Serrano.
Yeah buddy Thanks! You cant just imagine how much I labored lookin for that fight in years. Its just one of them fights you get to read but didnt actually see, and when you check everywhere you cant find it, as if it was like just a legend.
Its written in Japanese so it was quite difficult written like this : ベン・ビラフロア I just randomly scourged on it hoping one day I could bump into it and I actually did! Gold!Last edited by Papa Ace; 12-14-2007, 11:25 AM.

Impressive fighter.
Thanks for posting, as I'd never seen the guy before.
Seconded on hoping someone has more fights of his around, & posts them.
Another guy who is comparable to Pacquiao, probably more so from a style point of view, was Andy Ganigan.
Didn't have Pacquaio's hand speed, but he was an extremely aggressive southpaw with brutal punching power, who generally liked to jump on his opponents at the opening bell.
Came up short in title bout against Alexis Arguello, but it was a real thriller while it lasted.
Thanks to fluffyninja for the video

One of only three people who made the great Alexis Arguello hit the floor-- something that Ruben Olivares (who managed to only stagger Arguello), Ernesto Marcel, Royal Kobayashi, Alfredo Escalera, Boom Boom Mancini, Bobby Chacon, Bazooka Limon, Ruben Castillo, Rolando Navarette, Boza-Edwards and a slew of others didn't manage to do.
Thanks for the video!

Wherever he is, one hopes he goes on the internet (he's just a couple of years younger than I am), has copies of his fights and post videos here and on youtube. Thanks again, buddy!
