WBO champion Joan Guzman and his manager Jose Nunez both expressed disappointment that Top Rank promoter Bob Arum hasn't included Guzman in the mix for a fight with Manny Pacquiao after his unanimous victory over Humberto Soto Saturday night.

"I feel it was a great fight and the better man won. The bad part for Bob was that the better man was me. Now if he really wants to test my boxing skills have him put his prized possession, Manny Pacquiao, up against me and watch me beat him as well.”
Guzman went on to say that if Pacquiao isn’t willing to get in the ring with him he will continue to fight the toughest opponents available for him at 130lbs.
Guzman is also miffed that Arum criticized his performance late in the fight against Soto. "I am very upset that Bob Arum would want to take away from my victory by saying that I ran away from Soto the last two rounds of the fight," Guzman stated. "I clearly beat Soto for at least ten rounds of the fight. I wasn’t running from him. Soto is a very tough fighter and took some of my best and hardest punches the same way I took his. Neither one of us were running away from each other."
His manager, Jose Nunez, had very similar comments to make to *********.com. “Bob needs to watch the fight again and maybe put his glasses on this time. How is he going to discredit Guzman’s win when the judges saw who was clearly the better fighter? I don’t think that if Guzman would have been running as much as Bob said the judges would have given him such a wide decision. Soto is Top Rank’s toughest fighter in the 130lb. division and we beat him. Also Guzman did all that on Saturday night even after an eleven-month lay off.
"Arum needs to give Guzman his credit when credit is due and get Manny in the ring with him. I know that Manny is his cash cow but how are you going to make any money off of him if you don’t put him in the ring with the best opponents out there. Arum wants to get Pacquiao a fight with David Diaz. You tell me who the hell is David Diaz? Who has he beaten? Yeah he beat Erik Morales, but even that was a controversial win. HBO and the fans need to demand a bout with Pacquiao and Guzman. It is the only fight that makes sense for either one of them. Pacquiao will begin to lose his fan base if he continues to fight these guys that are already past their prime and can't give him any competition in the ring.
"If Pacquiao doesn’t want to fight, Guzman will continue to fight the best in the division, such as his mandatory Alex Arthur or Juan Manuel Marquez. When no one else decides to step up Guzman will simply move up to 135lbs and reign as champion in that division as well. I just want Bob Arum, Manny Pacquiao and all other potential opponents for Guzman to know that we don’t turn down fights. There is no one in the 130lb. or 135lbs. division that intimidates us so if you want a shot at Guzman make an offer and you might be the next one to take a loss."
