For those who have Spanish as their first language

Does it bug you all that Michael Buffer rolls every R when he pronounces anyone who might be linked to the Spanish language's name?

I was just curious, because I am watching a fight with Joe Cortez as the referee, and he (as usual) pronounced it as:

    Joe Corrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrtez.

    Thoughts?

i think it's a family thing, when lil brother bruce is on the job at UFC / MMA fights he does the same thing, i even heard him announce the whitest looking fighter i've ever seen with three or four extra r's in his name

        he said " mikey burrrrrrrrrnet"
i think they just think it sounds cool, the fighter didn't look too impressed though

No, but what I've learned about Spanish is that the rolling of the r's is reserved for double r's only.

            Cortez - No R roll.
Marron (accent over the O) - Rolls the R.

It seems to me like Buffer just tries way too hard to fit in with the Spanish speakers.

The thing is, he rolls them because when you're trying to give the name, with an accent it's respect, it sound s abit strange to just DRAAAG an r for that long. Try it, on say.. Berrera, on the second LONE r especially, it sounds.. Slow. lol.

                  I knew I wasn't imagining it. Sweet.

You can say Barrera fast with a Spanish accent without rolling the R's too.

Bah-der-a is how it sounds when I do it.

Spanish says the single R so quickly that is sounds like a quick D sound.
