What is it about Roberto Duran...

that consistently ranks him in the top 10 of all-time greats p4p? Why is it that despite losses to Hagler, Hearns and Leonard ("no mas" debacle), he is rated way ahead of these greatest fighters to ever defeat him? Why is this man a so-called "legend?"

Imagine Floyd Mayweather going up and slugging it out toe to toe with guys like Taylor, Pavlik, Hopkins and other great middle weights. Duran was a lightweight that dominated everyone so he moved up to fight much bigger guys and always gave a fight.

          Nice avatar Nostromo

In his prime, Duran was almost unbeatable, he got old and weary when he started losing. I think he is top 10 of all time, but no way he tops Hagler or Hearns or SRL. Also the number of fights he has is impressive.

First thing is said after i imagined him fighting with these guys is "holly ****!"

Duran is the man, a warrior to the fullest he gave Hagler a very tough fight, Hagler even though the bigger man didn't try to over whelm Duran.

Funny thing is that I think Mayweather with his boxing skills he can become Middleweight Champion, "did you see what Corey Spinks got away with at Middleweight?" Mayweather is a better fighter then Spinks. Thing is Mayweather doesn't have the balls or interest to go up to middleweight, i don't think he's to eager to challenge the best "Taylor" at middleweight. Though i think eventually we will see him challenge someon at middleweight. Just too bad it may be after he loses or at the end of his career.

Because all of those fights you mentioned were past his prime and past his best weight.

People tend to forget that Duran was 72-1 before he lost to SRL. He dominated the Lightweight division and beat good fighters. He won the Middleweight Championship 17 years after winning the Lightweight Championship. That's unbelievable.

Lets not forget to mention he beat and dropped Iran Barkley, a fighter that ko'd Thomas Hearns. And a fighter Hearns couldn't beat as Duran could.

Pretty much unbeatable at lightweight, and always came to fight with the highest caliber of fighters. He is overyhyped however, actaully people on NSB tend to do that to alot of fighters who are great.
