    Is Povetkin ready for Klitschko?

Alexander Povetkin claims he was pleased with his performance against Larry Donald. If this is true, then we can only conclude that he is suffering from delusions. Donald is 40 years old, clearly past his prime and did not perform at his best. Despite these advantages Povetkin couldn't put him away early, and not only that, it was a 10 round struggle to win on points. How is he going to handle a better quality opponent like Klitschko who has a height, reach, speed, and strength advantage?

Povetkin is not ready to fight Wladimir at this point, but go easy on him - he's only had 13 professional fights. Donald is a tough boxer with a solid chin, and Povetkin defeated him much more decisively than Valuev did last year. Sasha won every round...

Potatoes, what the hell was the point of creating this thread when there are already two existing Povetkin threads on the first page? Dumb, dumb, dumb....

          DEF NOT!

He would get his ass handed to him. He needs to progress a little before facing Klit.

he's way too green for wlad but I dont think he should be judged too harshly on not stopping donald. only vit klit has stopped him and even at 40 donald is no easy guy to take out. anyway,,,,I never really though of pov as a big ****er. I dont think he's going to be able to take out the more durable top guys. he still has potential though

Wlad's definitely the best in the division at this point and even though Povetkin has a good future a fight with Wlad right now wouldn't be good. Give him until at least he has 20 fights for him to have a chance.

Let's face it, Povetkin isn't going to get much better. He has an extensive background, and he has already developed his style as far as it is likely to go. Povetkin is in his prime and he is as ready now as he is ever going to be. I hate to admit it, but Wladimir Klitschko is the current reigning heavyweight champion and to have any claim to the throne it is Klitschko whom Povetkin has to beat. Those other three beltholders are nothing more than mosquitoes that Klitschko will swat as soon as he gets the chance. As a matter of fact I am not convinced that Povetkin could beat Maskaev, Chagaev or Ibragimov.
