Since he is jumping the up to 154 do you think Mackie would be a benefit to him?

Nah. THat guys good for major weight jumps.

Or big returns. This is one division. Nothing he cant handle.

But yea it would probably help.

        I think that's a pretty good thought.

I don't see Floyd coming in any bigger than he does at Welter. He rehydrates back up to around 149 or 150 on fight night anyways.

When this fight was 1st made, I figured that Floyd would get Mackie. It may not be a huge jump but its big enough. Remember that Floyd is already fighting at higher weights then he should. Its also not just about the weight. Its about the performance. It does him no good to have the weight but look like crap. Mackie can get you to the weight while looking in top form.

I think the problem is that Floyd is just a creature of habit. He's not going to change what he's been doing so far in his whole career when he's undefeated. He also trains harder then anyone and his family has been around boxing forever so they probally figure that they can find the perfect weight strategy on there own

Top conditioning coaches always come in handy

Floyd, probably, didn't need Mackie. But, obviously, Mackie will be devising a hell of a system to get Floyd in top form by correcting any weaknesses he may have and enhancing all the attributes Floyd has already developed.

Mackie's successful coaching of Michael Spinks, Roy Jones, and Hopkins in title winning fights says alot. He's a great motivator who's totally dedicated to his craft and who's sole focus is getting any athlete under his guidance to going from great to phenomenal.

Yeah, there are probably other conditioning coaches Floyd could've chosen, but Mackie is already highly respected and highly recommended in boxing circles and he don't come cheap, which puts him out of the reach of the average boxer. For good reason.

If you've got the money, and you're putting in all on the line, why not get the absolute best coaching?
