Pacquiao/Roach/Merchant/Albert honored by the BWAA
Facing his usual still competition, Philippine superstar Manny Pacquiao has been selected by the Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) as Fighter of the Year for 2006.
In a not so odd twist of fate, Pacquiao’s trainer, Freddie Roach, was also honored, as trainer of the year.
Other winners included HBO’s Larry Merchant for Long and Meritorious Service and Showtime’s Steve Albert for Broadcast Excellence.
Lee Samuels and Ricardo Jimenez, publicists for Top Rank, share the honor of receiving the Marvin Kohn Good Guy award for 2006.
