    Persuasive Speech, Boxing Titles?

    Hey so for my Persuasive Speech I was thinking about doing a topic on Boxing reform because we talk about it here everyday. I have good arguments worked up IE;

    Fighters given title shots they don't deserve
    Fighters not being stripped of titles for any various reason(Caught with drugs, inactivity, etc...)
    Promoter corruption
    ABC titles(WBC Silver Champion, WBC Diamond Champion, WBA interum champion, WBC Asia champion, etc, etc...)

    That's basically the focal point of my arguments, but I would propose a reform for boxing. The promoters wouldn't have to disappear because letting everyone make their own money is only fair and you would still need people to handle the logistics anyways, but some kind of treaty where the promoters have to work together and can't monopolize their services would be my first main arguments. The 2nd thing would be to make one belt per division.

    Obviously the biggest hitch in that plan is taking on the logistics of boxing. Boxing is so ****ing huge! I even thought of something where the title organizations didn't have to go away, but instead would be in charge of specific regions of the world in order to funnel the rankings into the one title belt easier, but yeah there's no easy way to do this.

    Counter-Arguments seem pretty obvious... ABC titles benefit fighters that are actually in the rankings because it gives them more opportunity rather than fighting up a very long list. Who are we to dictate who someone must work with(Talking about promoters)? Would telling a promoter he had to work with another promoter be infringing on any *********s, Laws, Treaties?

    Not sure how I will have to go into the specifics of actually fixing the problem, but if I can get away just saying Why I have to fix it without really touching on How as much then I'll be in the clear.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Try doing a speech for boxing to return as a sport in public schools. Guarantee you'll find statistics on injury in boxing are far less than what we see in NBA/NFL. You can't go through high school without seeing a bunch of football injuries happen to players.

    If you go with your current topics you would need solid facts. I guess you could go read up some Don King?

    Main points being, unlike other sports a manager/promoter make fights and there is no standard ladder to climb, in other words money talks.. if your promoter won't back you on the fight and you're not a megastar, then good luck choosing your fights. It's as close to a legal slave trade they'll be. Lets also not forget to be thankful for having four independent organizations to get their share of the money.. sanctioning title fights, with dozens of BS titles nowadys. (Continental Americas, Silver belts, Champion of the Decade belt)

    Also point out how the UFC works, its not as popular nor do their fighters get a fraction of what boxers do. The sport has been around for a while(I would assume a lot of UFC fans haven't even heard of Pride) but because the UFC works in such an organized standard ladder.. they really have no recipe to build star power as we now see in each generation in boxing with the next PPV cash cow's always being built.

      That would actually be a pretty dope speech. I'm reading an article that is kind of concerning regarding head injuries in boxing. The most common is fractured hands, but the head injuries among younger participants is still shady

      But yeah the positives would outweigh the negatives of boxing back in High School. The High School youth all over the city battle it out. Who wouldn't want that shyt

      As for facts for my current one, that would be pretty easy. I can just reference random Paper champs, talk about the WBC being shady, talking about Arum and Golden Boy being shady and reference actual events. Get people's opinion that are outspoken on ABC titles such as Floyd. Lot of reference material, but easy enough.
