    Jamie McDonnell

Any news on Jamie's next fight?

The Bantam division is ruled by Asian fighters at present.

It's a bit of a 'name' vacuum after mini tourny a couple of years back.

I haven't seen anything but still good division i think Yamanaka is classy fighter but unfortunately unless Teiken take him on the road he will stay in Japan and fight lower tier guys and while i don't rate Kameda anywere near Yama he has another belt and more then likely won't leave add in Moreno is only coming out off a contract dispute top quality matches are gunna be hard made

      Cheers mate.

Everyone is a few pounds north these days.

There's no big names Stateside. And as you stated the Japanese fighters will stay over there.

When will Khalid Yafai be ready for him?

Too be honest ive seen nothing off Yafai since i don't have sky but ive heard excellent things about him.Just looking at boxrec and for Mcdonnell its even bleaker then i originally thought another super young fighter at that weight is Ryo Iwasa but again hard too match with Mcdonnell maybe a rematch with Ruiz or Jamoye because there is very little unless that Yafai kid steps up in class fast and can create a domestic showdown

From what I've seen Khalid has the quality to be a top notch fighter & is ready, in regards to skill, to compete for a British title now but he needs more experience & some rounds.

I think Jamie's a cracking little fighter but the options are pretty thin for him at the moment.

Somewhat ironically, all the exciting fights and good money are just one weight-up from him with Quigg, Frampton and Kid Galahad all closing-in on world title shots. If Jamie does step up to S.Bantam then there's some potentially fantastic fights down the line.

Think McDonnell stepping up would be detrimental to his career at this point, he's at his best weight now. Lee Haskins is a potential opponent, he's already fought and beaten McDonnell earlier in his career.

McDonnell being champion means fighters will travel to him, so don't expect any great names. I can see him fighting gatekeepers and average contenders before losing the belt and stepping up to cash in - which I cannot blame him for, tough division(s).
