    Ricky Burns now WBO Lightweight Champ - Official




    Burns is now the champ , Marquez is the Welterweight number 1 contender , Cleverlys opponent has made it to number 10

    He beat a legit top-10 Lightweight in Katsidis, but Burns is pretty much a paper champ because JMM is the real champ. However it doesn't look like JMM is fighting at 135 again so I guess it's fair..

    And with Rios's inevitable move up to 140 and Guerrero also moving up the number 1 position at Lightweight is up for grabs.

    In fact, without JMM, Rios, Soto and Guerrero, the Lightweight division is pretty poor at the moment. Vazquez, Burns, DeMarco, Linares, Mitchell and Katsidis are not a world-class bunch of fighters.

    Burns needs to step up his opposition this year. I would like to see Burns vs. Vazquez to unify the WBO and IBF titles.
