If Herol had beaten Julian Jackson...

Been watching re-runs of this fight lately and it underlines the kind of career herol Graham had and how close he came to being a World Champion. He gave Jackson a boxing lesson for 3 rounds, cut him badly and was on the verge of a fairly easy win. The doctor at ringside gave Jackson one more round before stopping him. Then, Herol sticks his chin out in the fourth and gets knocked cold by the peachiest right hand I've ever seen. Gutted! He just wasn't smart enough in that fight. If he had won, though, how do you think he would have fared against some of the other Middleweight legends and how many successful defences could he have made?

Well he lost to Jackson, Kalambay and McCallum - three of the top middleweights at the time. so dont think he would have faired much better against the likes of Jones jr or McClellan. Got to agree with the previous post though, he was certainly the best boxer not to win a title.

I remember watching the fight live and Herol was fighting as well as I've ever see him fight. There was only one thing that was going to save Jackson and that was a big haymaker landing flush on Herol's chin.
I didn't see it coming and Herol certainly didn't and unfortunately for Herol it had to be one of the best punches of the decade from one of the biggest hitters around.
The punch did more than dent Herol's title ambitions it also seemed to dent his confidence as he was never the same after this.
Yes - definitely one of the best British boxers never to win a title
