    Jai Opetaias last opponent David Nyika v Jake Paul

    David Nyika is a cruiser that has had just 11 fights. Jake Paul has had 13. David coming off a KO loss. But Nyika is a real fighter. Jake says he wants to step up? Then here is a fighter that the entire boxing world would tick as a step into real boxing. If Jake REALLY want to get ranked and given a world title shot!

    Nyika is currently #12 IBF Cruiserweight, has only had 11 fights, was KO'd in his last fight in a world title shot vs Jai Opetaia. A win over Nyika would see Paul get a top 10 ranking, probably not just in the IBF.

        Legitimate fight for Paul v a contender that no one would realistically complain about. A win would propel Paul into contender status.

          Nyika hits hard and is athletic. I don't think Jake Paul wants that smoke.

            Paul says he want to fight for a world title. He isnt ready, is not ranked, and doesnt deserve a shot because hes fought no one. If Paul wants a legitimate stepping stone to a world ranking, there may not be a better path than to fight David Nyika.

            Nyika has credibility, is a professional novice like Paul, is marketable, and easily takes the 'nice guy role'. Paul will probably again pull some retired boxer from retirement for money, but if he is serious about getting a WT shot, beating Nyika is a fast track to a shot.

              GROK;

              After his unanimous decision victory over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on June 28, 2025, Jake Paul called out five fighters in his post-fight interview, as reported by multiple sources including DAZN coverage and posts on X. The fighters he named are:
              • Zurdo Ramirez - Unified cruiserweight champion, who fought on the same card.
              • Badou Jack - Former two-division world champion.
              • Anthony Joshua - Former heavyweight champion.
              • Gervonta "Tank" Davis - Lightweight boxing star.
              • Tommy Fury - The only fighter to have defeated Paul, referenced as someone Paul wants to rematch.
              These call-outs were widely noted in posts on X and boxing news outlets, with Paul expressing his ambition to face tougher opponents and pursue a world championship.

                My guess is that, if Paul secures some title shot, it won't be because he faced and beat any legitimate contenders.

                  Yeah, you are probably right. Will be a setback for boxing though.

                    I think Nyika probably sparks him out if they were to fight. Paul's reflexes and punches are slow and telegraphed for the professional ranks. I liked what I saw Nyika the few times I watched him fight. He went out on his shield against Opetaia and I thought he definitely buzzed Jai on at least one occasion.
