Is boxing coming to the beeb?

I was just watching BBc HD, adn an advert about the HD of it came on, telling me how sport is better in HD. What caught my eye was a clip of a boxing ****ing his gloves together (it was showing different clips of things like athletics) and it made me wonder if its comign back after the Harrison debacle. Anyone know what is going on?

Doubt it, would be good if BBC picked up David Haye's fights though. At least then we wouldn't have 30-45 seconds of adverts inbetween rounds.

They certainly wouldn't do it on something like the Harrison model which was, of course, a total disaster even when Fraudley was still winning. In retrospect, though, I think it was just because whoever at the Beeb decided to sign that contract just knew nothing about boxing. I see no reason at all why they couldn't show it on a fight by fight basis, but the problem is finding the fights. Anything too big and Sky will always outbid them, but anything not big enough and nobody (in Beeb terms) would watch.

I'd love to see them sign a deal with Khan. He'd get well over 10 million viewers per fight.

Haye should just go to Sky.

Haye has links with BBC already, his early fights were shown on there it would be good if he did sign up with them but i have heard his possible fight with Vitali will most likely be on Sky.

i honestly doubt it, boxing will have to end up somewhere though, with ITV and setanta out of the picture, i dont know if maybe eurosport will start to pick up some of the slack? i just cant see where frank warrens going to go

My best bet is that ESPN or Sky will pick it up. bringbackbunce.net already been sending emails non-stop to ESPN to try get Steve and Andy on there channel to cover Boxing.

Well according to Haye's team they have offered the BBC the Haye Klitscko fight but it looks like they will reject it. Some of the sport on the BBC these days is junk so they turn down the chance to show a heavyweight title fight???

Haye offered the fight to bbc for less money than sky sports were offering, and bbc knocked it back.

Fcuk them, boxing is dead man, all them channels fighting over UFC, and nobody wants to pick up boxing.

Maybe there are lots of channels fighting for UFC but m8, have you seen who is fighting for the ufc? ******, Bravo, Eurosport, Nuts T.V lol they must have average viewing figures of like 10,000 people. Boxing will be back on Sky for a couple of years, the deal has already been signed and sky's coverage will start in September. Boxing will never die unless the human race dies, as there will always be a guilty pleasure in seeing two men box.
