    Holyfield’s baptism of fire

A fight that is hugely overlooked and really is one of the best fights of the 80’s is Evander holyfields war with Dwight Muhammad qawi.
I watched that fight last night and again was reminded just how brilliant his performance was in only his 12th pro fight.
What a fight and it has been hugely overlooked in terms of it being a fight classic.
If you have never watched it now is the time.
Let me know your thoughts on this fight

It was an epic war. Both guys took a lot of damage. Evander looked dry as hell, taking so many punches so early in his career with a dehydrated brain could have turned out badly for him but as we know by now he was one of a kind, a freak of nature.

so what you trying to say fruitcake ? Boxing is like table tennis ? Lots of fighters have to go in the hospital for observation.
It’s boxing it’s a tough sport and they all know the risks.
It is a great fight and it never hindered Holyfield in his career so your sarcastic remarks fall on deaths ears fruitcake

Death's ears? Where do they keep finding the geniuses? This guy should be writing news articles for AOL or Yahoo.

              - -They ain't near death after losing, what 17 lbs of water weight.

Qawi in the same fight just fine in comparison.

And what fighter has had to retire with a hard heart? And made a comeback after being faith healed by that megachurch televangelist, Benny HaHa or whatever his name was?

And been accused in his first title fight of PED use?

These are not crimes that he could be charged with, but soon there becomes a pattern of disbelief over just the earliest part of his career.

FYI, I was a big early admirer, but he soon became insufferable much the same with Lewie.

I think there is a reason why Holyfield had ticker problems and we both know that.
A small heavyweight who bulked himself up while still remaining like a Greek god will give you some idea and he did that to make himself competitive with the big heavies.
Holyfield went in to defend his cruiser weight title 5 times It had nothing to do with qawi fight you and I both know that.
                FYI your insufferable lol

Not that overlooked by ESPN. They profiled Holyfield in the 2000s when doing their Ringisde series and mentioned both Qawi fights, the first in depth.
