Alcides Sagarra said that when Stevenson was old, Savon was trying to hurt him during sparring and was getting some hands on him but then Stevenson got mad since Savon was known for being aggressive during training (he knocked the front teeth out of Juan Hernandez who was a welterweight) and busted and dropped Savon so Sagarra told him that is easy to poke the lion when it's asleep not so much when it's angry.

I remember watching as a kid Olympic Games in Monteal in 1976, of course watched boxing and some Polish great moments, but also remember Tate (future HW pro champ) who was KO'd by Stevenson.
