I think he's all but invincible at Middleweight. His best scalp there was an unfinished product Hopkins, which isn't saying a lot when speaking about all-time achievements. But the size advantage he'd be carry into a fight against men like Greb, Steele, Robinson, Monzon and Hagler would be too much to not make him a favorite.

At Light Heavyweight he'd fall to Loughran, Tunney, Conn (possibly), Charles, Moore, Foster, Spinks.

Above LHw I see him losing to Dempsey (possibly), Tunny, Charles, Patterson, Spinks, Foster, Marciano, and Usyk.

He was vry talented, but much of his talent came from a needle in the ass. We see, especially in MMA, how that can make a person very, very dangerous, but it cannot completely compensate for deficiency of skill. Against the greats, Jones would find himself against men with the fortitude, stamina and Boxing ability to take him deep. It is hard to see him prevailing at that point.

      - -Rusty, does your knowledge come from a needle in your keister.

The "we see in the mma" observation wasn't relevant in Roy's prime when the mma was barely perceptible on boxing's radar.

        this is just comedy gold!

look, i'm very much an old school guy and disagree with the whole "all athletes are better today" stance that many people take. but lets not get ******ed..

have you actually watched guys like loughran fight?

you clearly have a problem with roy jones..

160 - Roy was far from a finished product at this weight but his size, power and hand speed could overwhelm pretty much anyone. I would give Hagler the best shot at beating him. If Ray Leonard had never retired and moved up to MW in his prime then who knows.
          168 - No one.
175 - Hard to say, never saw Roy face true ATG competition at LHW. But it's still Roy so I would never pick against him. I give Spinks and Moorer the best chance.
190 / 200 - Cruiser is one of the weakest all-time divisions, I think Roy reigns supreme here besides an ATG matchup with Holyfield. I would consider that a true 50/50 fight.

There are some crazy matchups where I legitimately have no idea what would happen. Like Roy vs. Hearns at 160 or Dwight Qawi at 175.

At middleweight he would have lost against Robinson and likely Hagler. Struggled with Basilio, Griffith, Hearns, and LaMotta.

At 168 which was his best weight IMO, I can't see anyone beating him in his prime. Possibly Robinson if he fought at 168.

At 175 I'd say Conn, Charles, Moore, Foster, and Spinks would be the guys who could beat him. Maybe Braxton/Qawi. There was a lot of talk about him fighting Dariusz Michalczewski, and I think that may have been a 50/50 fight.

Somewhere between LHW and CW I see Michael Moorer giving him all he can handle. Might even favor Moorer in that one.

At CW I'd say Holyfield. He would have his hands full with Jirov, but edge him out.

At HW there are just too many to list. His win over Ruiz was an anomaly. He would not have the power or the chin to compete with the ATG HWs.

Not really an anomaly, Ruiz just sucks. I see Roy beating the vast majority of alphabet heavyweight champs, as long as they're not too big.

IMO it would be more interesting who he’d lose to among his contemporaries because there was a ton of fighters in his divisions that he missed out on.
