It got lousy reviews, but I loved it!

“The Great White Hype” from 1996.

If I remember right, how a Don King-look-alike promoter builds a definite mismatch
to a Fight of the Century-match, having fans and media go bananas …
We, the gullible ones, are there to be fooled and to be pocketed of our money.

And I surely felt like a fool at the end of this movie. Spending 90 minutes on this,
    and THAT was the fight?

A true mirror of some “big” promotions in real life …

Anybody else ever see Somebody Up There Likes Me with Paul Newman as Rocky Graziano? I like that one myself.

Ah and I just checked, they DID list that one, so nice job of the article.

That was a good movie. A bit quaint for nowadays. Don't expect the boxing on most movies to be realistic, unlike Raging Bull.

Rocky I & Rocky III will always be the best boxing movies to me.

"Gentleman Jim" with Errol Flynn was a pleasant discovery for me.

                I quite liked Cinderella Man.
I've heard The Set Up is decent.

a few films i used to like that didn't make the grade was- price of glory, play it to the bone and gladiator. All three got slated on rotten tomatoes. Used to think fighting tommy riley was a sequel or prequel to gladiator but seems just a coincidence that the main characters names were the same. Somebody up there likes me was prob one of my fave boxing films tho, got it on vhs some where still i think.

Love that movie. It had some good humor, action and a touching emotional scene at the end between Corbett and Sullivan even though it probably never happened.
