chavez was a big puncher and EXTREMELY skilled offensively, good combination puncher with good speed. he was what i would call very an 'economical' puncher.

but for me this is a fight that brings out duran's best. duran's counterpunching was sharp against guy's who were eve difficult to hit at close range due to great head/body movement. i think chavez would be fairly easy to hit so duran wouldn't have much problem hitting him. duran could be pretty canny the way he got under his opponents punching leverage and his movement in close was excellent.

for me, chavez is to patient and economical with his punches to defeat duran on points. while he's busy waiting to land that one big punch he will be getting out pointed over 15 hard fought rounds.

Once again, I have to go with Duran. He was a far better boxer than Chavez and more versatile. Duran by UD.

i say we see the best lightweight fight in history surpasing posably castillo v. corrales. both are under-rated for their skills, both knwo how to fight on the inside both can lesson a punchs effect. one hell of a war, i see it going either way in a bloody war
