Ali Vs Ellis-Why Angelo cornered Ellis?

--- Angelo incredibly loyal to Ali, but was in Jimmy's corner when they fought.

What was the story behind that decision?

Could be mistaken, but I think Angelo was missing in the Berbick fight. Anyone know, and if so what the reason was?

Money Puts Dundee in Ellis's Corner

HOUSTON, July 24—For what the promoters have labeled the “inevitable fight,” Angelo Dundee made the inevitable decision. He is Muhammad Ali's trainer, but he is Jimmy Ellis's manager, and on Monday night in the Astrodome he will he in Ellis's corner.

Money is the primary rea son, as it is with most deci sions that people in boxing make.

Ali has disclosed that Dun dee was paid $50,000 out of Ali's $2.5‐million share from the recent heavyweight title extravaganza with Joe Fraz ier. Although it was the big gest check of the 49‐year‐ old cornerman's career it represented a 2 per cent pittance for one of boxing's most respected tutors.

As a manager entitled to 33 ⅓ per cent of Ellis's earnings here, Dundee might make as much as $100,000 from the 12‐round bout. Ali has been guaranteed $450, 000 for the closed‐circuit TV match.
