The schedule that most guys from the current era follow is:
Fight 18-20 no hope tomato cans to have an undefeated record.
Get on tv undercards against cherrypicks, usually another green, outgunned opponent, or some old faded name
Get to about 22-0, then look around at the 20 major/minor title belts and see which is vacant or has a weak champ
Once they have a fake title, they slow activity to 1 maybe 2 fights a year.
Will take at least 2-3 cherrypick defenses over the span of 20 months.
Then when the fighter is 28-0, he may actually get a big challenging fight if paid a huge amount.
Then the fighter gets beaten as is “exposed” or wins and is quickly labeled “great”
I miss the days of young donald curry, marlon, Norris, McCollum, Jackson, etc..
