Oh my god. Are you trying to antagonise Butterfly, or are you just plain ignorant and ******?

DRAFT DODGERS RUN TO ****ING CANADA, ALI STOOD UP FOR HIS BELIEFS AND FOUGHT THE ****ING GOVERNMENT, AND WON!!!!!!! IT WAS AN UNJUST WAR AND HE DID THE RIGHT THING!

And Ali would stop Louis late.

True. Louis had very quick hands Butterfly. However, his slow movement would be his downfall against Ali. A prime Ali stops Louis late, but a post 1974 Ali loses. Louis was troubled by movement, as Conn and Walcott showed (who weren't the movers Ali was). Plus Ali was much taller, had longer reach etc. I just see it as a bad matchup head to head for Joe.

Louis unquestionably was a great fighter and at least a top three heavyweight to anyone whose opinion is worth anything. This article was clearly written to illustrate how one can break down and analyze any great champion and find faults. Yes some good points are made, but when you compare Louis to the other great champions, he still comes out smelling like roses. He successfully defended his title more times than any other heavyweight champion and against the top guys of his era. Yeah he fought a few guys that weren't exactly top contender quality but so did every other great heavyweight. To say his Louis's era was any weaker than say Ali's is just speculation and not fact. It has become pugilistic dogma to assert that the 70's were the strongest heavyweight era ever but no one can really prove this a fact. We would need a time machine and pit the 70's contenders with guys from the late 30's and the forties to know for sure.

When assessing great fighters I like to look at the facts. Here they are: Louis defended his title more times than any other champion and, for the most part, against the best fighters that were around. He did the same as every other great champion before or after him except he did it better.
