Tyson by miles.
Ali was the better fighter IMO, but I didn't find him all that exciting in his prime, with the Williams fight being an exception.
I found him more entertaining to watch later in his career when he was more stationary. He sat down on his punches more.

Watching Ali, you get to see him either: A.) Spend the whole fight running away from his opponent in the form of a dance, B.) Hold his opponent if they get within two feet of him, or C.) Stand there, clueless, getting the crap beat out of him (Patterson II for example). I have never been impressed by anything about Ali other than his ability to take a punch in his rope-a-dope years. Other than that, I find him to be nothing special and the most overrated boxer ever.
Tyson (in his prime) on his worst nights was having to chase after his opponents, slipping and weaving every punch thrown at him, and hammering a five punch combination out in under a second, and giving a true spectacle. It's not even close, in my opinion. Thanks for the thread, even though it's a bit elderly.Last edited by GymRat; 06-07-2010, 04:44 AM.

Tyson is the most entertaining boxer to ever live. Tyson's main objective in boxing, and one of the thing Cus stressed, was you have to be an exciting champion.
Ali has never been very exciting to me.

It looks like 15 people misunderstood the question.
For all the things you can criticize Tyson for, unexciting is not one of them.
