    Mike McCallum at SMW.

Why do you suppose he never fought at the weight?

Do you think he could have won a title there? Say he fought Benn or Nunn for the WBC or WBA titles, respectively.

Mike McCallum was one of my favourite fighters ever and from middleweight to cruiserweight, especially at 190, I don't think there was a class where he would not have been at least competitive because of how smart he was. At smw specifically, I definitely think he could have won a title. Nunn may have been a difficult fight for him because of Nunn's speed, but he could have won that fight. But as much as I love Nigel Benn, a true warrior, I think McCallum wouldn't have too much of a problem with him.

Super middleweight had very little prestige at the time McCallum fought there. It picked up in popularity soon after in the mid 90's with Jones, Benn, Eubank, Toney, etc.

He could do all right there, but he is a little small for the division. He certainly had craft on his side and knew how to punch.
