The English only use the word 'British' when they can brag about someone who isn't english, yet lives on the same island, if he got destroyed by Lacy the English would have labelled him Welsh.

Calzaghe is a very good champion who could be great. It will take another very good fighter to make him great, ala Ali/Fraizer, Hagler/Hearns. His resume is just not that deep yet. Very good boxing skills.

Joe Calzaghe is a good fighter, probably the best at Super Middleweight. His record isn't full of top notch names beide Jeff Lacy but he has skill and the potential to be a great champion.

Watching Joe Calzaghe totally outbox Jeff Lacy was to watch a master at work. OK, he's no blaster, but that was a boxing masterclass.

The Lacy fight was indeed a thing of beauty and hints at Calzaghe's chances against a prime Jones and Hopkins...that's right. I was telling everyone he would have beaten Tarver before Bernard spanked Magic publicly over the weekend...now, I'm sure of it.

You can tell a lot about a man in his biggest fight; and Calzaghe showed his greatness against Lacy. It's a shame he's getting up in years for a fighter. We may never know all that he could have accomplished had he been given the opportunity.
