It would come down to how well Oscar can take the Hearns right hand early on. If he doesn't take it well, it is over early. If this fight goes past 3-4 rounds, it begins to favor DLH, and substantially. I can see hearns holding on and winning, because oscar wasn't as good as Leonard.
Maybe an early hearns KO, maybe Hearns holding on and barely there at the end to win a decision. Maybe DLH stopping him late or pulling away over the last rounds. The idea of hearns being the best WW is ludicrous. This is a fight between two good fighters that could go either way.

As I said I don't think he'd be 'quite as effective' as Leonard (who lets face it was behind on points after 12 rounds, but had probably won four or five rounds and been competitive in others that he'd lost). The disparity in right hand power would be key.....and without looking up stats I always got the impression that De La Hoya would be at an even greater reach disadvantage too. But he could hit very well with the left hand, and on the rare moments that he might have been able to close the distance.......or dare I say get inside, he might have caused some tense moments.

I do rate Oscar's chin, his mobility, his amateur credentials and his rapid combinations. I don't think he'd be an easy match for Tommy (up to the Pacquiao fight he wasn't an easy match for anyone!); but as I said, I do think it'd be a wide unanimous decision win for the Hitman.

Hearns is a top fifteen welter because of his power, reach, willingness to compete! Oscar is a good welter because he was athletic and good boxer.
Tommy wins this early or late but Oscar is not a top twenty five welter and was known to fade late in fights and I doubt he has any answers with Hearns.
          Doc.

The fight would obviously be held in Delahoyas backyard. Hearns would, about 5 minutes after the initial bell, be handcuffed and then would be detained and seated in a patrol car facing a rap for murder.

Hearns is a whole different animal when compared to Delahoya................ Rockin'

I think the idea of Hearns and Delahoya being on the same level is even more ludicrous. All you have to do is watch the last four rounds of Delahoya-Trinidad to see that. Hearns was the superior puncher and superior boxer which wouldn't leave Delahoya with a lot of options.

with what SRR accomplished at WW, SRL with a prime H2H KO win, and Hearns modest resume at WW, I wholeheartedly disagree

I wouldn't call it a great chin. Oscar was no Jake Lamotta or Marvin Hagler in that department.

True, but he had solid enough chin th withstand Tito, Vargas Shane, etc

Oscar took a lot of shots in his career and I never really seen him hurt,, even when manny and Hopkins were beating him up...

I think hearns could drop him, I just think it would be very tall task to stop oscar
