    Great Hot Streaks in History

What are some of the best win streaks in history, in particular in huge fights over a span of time,,, Not so much guys like chavez, or SRR, or pep that had super long winning streaks,, more like guys that got on a hot streak and won huge fights, and sorta had a meteoric rise,,

Example would be manny pac,, from 08-2012 when he beat

    jmm
    diaz
    oscar
    hatton
    cotto
    clottey
    margs

That was a great run,, Or tito trinidad from 98-01 with wins over
    pernell
    oscar
    vargas
    reid
    joppy

    Tyson in 86-89
    berbick
    pinklon
    bonecrusher
    tucker
    biggs
    holmes
    tubbs
    spinks
    bruno
    William

How about that hot streak Boza Edwards left in his undies after a particularly damaging body blow from Arguello?

I wouldn't call any of them "marquee", but he did beat a lot of solid legit contenders like Clyde Gray, Harold Weston, Randy Shields, Pete Ranzany, and Billy Backus. The only fight that was even competitive was against Shields.

He not only beat people he broke bones and showed a chin that became somewhat brittle after the hearns fight.

Those are all solid wins,,, no slouches there... I swear it seems that Ranzany and Shields are on every resume in that era,, Those guys seem to have fought everyone in that era.. Clyde gray was also a very solid guy from what i've seen

The obvious example for me is Henry Armstrong. You could narrow this down to fit your question better but from January 1937 to his defeat by Fritzie Zivic in October 1940 he lost (not including Zivic defeat) only one fight and had one draw but many accounts suggest that both of those results should have went homicide Hank's way (you can actually watch the Garcia draw ). Officially 59 wins, 51 stoppage victories, 1 loss and 1 draw in that nearly 4 year period. 24 title fights, 22 wins, 1 loss and 1 draw, at four weights, feather, light, welter and middle.

If you want to think 'officially' then it might not count because of the draw and the loss.

Salvador Sanchez's featherweight run betwen 1980-1982 was very impressive:

                  Lopez x 2
                  Gomez
                  Nelson
                  Castillo
                  Ford
                  Laporte
                  Castanon
                  Cowdell
                  Garcia
                  Perez

Duran from 73-80 or even from 68-80 if you excuse the one legitimate loss in the first De Jesus fight. But in terms of 73-80 then you have:

                  De Jesus x 2
                  Leonard
                  Palomino
                  Ishimatsu
                  Robertson
                  Lampkin
                  Mamby
                  Takayama
                  Viruet x 2
                  Ortiz
                  Thompson
                  Bizzarro
                  Villa
                  Rojas
                  Fernandez
                  Brooks

Perhaps Duran's streak was more like Chavez's and Robinson's but from 78 to 80 he did beat De Jesus, Palomino and Leonard.

Arguello 78-82 was an amazing streak and can be extened longer if you excuse that one defeat and go back to after the Marcel defeat in 74. But from 78-82 you have:

                  Escalara
                  Limon
                  Chacon
                  Castillo
                  Navarette
                  Boza-Edwards
                  Ramirez
                  Watt
                  Mancini
                  Ganigan
plus a few other contenders of varying quality.

honest to god, i thought you said steaks. i thought it was an odd thread for history, but i wasn't about to let that discourage the discussion of a nice cut of meat with a big boy sear on it.

first i saw that the thread is about streaks, and not steaks. big disappointment. then i saw humean, which was another huge disappointment. i thought he hated everybody, and had left after getting in a good cry in the valero thread / at his funeral.

two contemporary fighters who were on great streaks were mares and donaire. donaire was one of the better kept secrets in boxing prior to the montiel knockout, and mares was fighting everybody and had remained undefeated.

ezzard charles had a hell of a run in the mid 40's through 50' or so, ending with a stoppage loss to joe walcott.

his L to elmer ray is supposedly a bad decision, and he avenged it. i have not seen the fight. along the way he beat moore several times, lloyd marshall, jimmy bivins, joe louis, joe walcott several times, and joey maxim, and others.
