    Early stoppages.

In the aftermath of last nights pretty terrible stoppage of George Groves against Carl Froch, I wonder which other controversial stoppages there have been in big fights.

One I can think of is Turpin getting stopped by Robinson. The situation might even resemble last nights incident given the fact that there had been a high profile ring death shortly before (the name eludes me right now), and just recently we had the Abdusalamov tragedy.

    Can you think of others?

the obvious one is taylor-chavez but i always thought that it was a decent stoppage, meldrick wasnt answering to any of the ref's commands

    also ruddock-tyson 1

more recently i thought canelo-gomez was bad,

cotto-corley could have gone longer, that was a bad one

The ref could have given him a better look but don't act like he was fine!
He was tired and getting more fatiqued by the second. The ref has a huge advantage looking into a fighters face and eyes! Is the fighter looking away after getting hit? Is he looking to his corner or at the ref? Lots of things to consider that viewers watching a screen don't see. Theres also an energy feel in the ring that a good ref is aware of and that can tell him how the boys are fareing.
I do think he could have given him a few more looks, was threir an 8 count invoked??

Robinson-Turpin? Did you see the right hand that Robinson decked Turpin with 30 seconds before the ref waved it off? He was then getting battered on the ropes. No way that was an example of an early stoppage.

            Rahman-Tua.
Hasim was likely done in that round, but the ref didn't even let him hit the ground. If he kept taking the shots i'd see the stoppage. Just a few seconds off.

you talking about the fight were rahman was schooling tua, and tua hit him late after the bell and knocked him almost out, but the round was over, and once they started again rahman was still on ***** street and tua unloaded on him,,
Always felt rahman got a raw deal in that fight and the rematch with the draw

Rahman should have won each IMO
