    Top 20 of all times?

Here's a crack at my top 20 ATG list. There are a few notables I've left out, but it is mainly down to me not being able to give an accurate enough account of their status as ATGs.

    Who's on your list?

    1. Sugar Ray Robinson
    2. Muhammad Ali
    3. Henry Armstrong
    4. Joe Louis
    5. Harry Greb
    6. Benny Leonard
    7. Jack Johnson
    8. Roberto Duran
    9. Willie Pep
    10. Gene Tunney
    11. Micky Walker
    12. Sam Langford
    13. Julio Cesar Chavez
    14. Joe Gans
    15. Archie Moore
    16. Sugar Ray Leonard
    17. Jack Dempsey
    18. Kid Chocolate
    19. Jimmy Wilde
    20. Barbados Joe Walcott

    I'll just repost from the other thread;

I don't have a specific Top 20. I posted it in the other thread.

    Here's my Top 10;

    1. Robinson
    2. Greb
    3. Charles
    4. Langford
    5. Armstrong
    6. B.Leonard
    7. Fitzsimmons
    8. Duran
    9. Moore
    10. Pep

Then like I said I don't have an order from the Top 20 because everytime I try it I change my mind and end up giving up but it would include guys like this

    No order

    Jimmy Mclarnin
    Ray Leonard
    Muhammad Ali
    Joe Louis
    Gene Tunney
    Kid Gavilan
    Micky Walker

There's 7 who I think I would definitely include in my Top 20.

    The last 3 slots are fought for by the likes of;

    Barney Ross
    Tony Canzoneri
    Carlos Monzon
    Charley Burley
    Joe Walcott

    etc

That's off the top of my head so I know I'll have missed some out.

Thanks for that. Though I think Charles should have been on mine, top 3? I think that's higher than I see mostly, but a great fighter no doubt. Fitzsimmons #7? High for me too, but as a brit I can appreciate it!

Good names though. I love Carlos Monzon too, he could have cracked my top 20-

I think Charles has a case to be the greatest fighter that's ever lived. I don't see many with a better resume than him and his skills are as good as anyone's in the history of the sport.

Fitzsimmons resume is Top 10 calibur, I don't see that as questionable. H2H I could see why someone would leave him out, that said, he's one of the hardest punchers of all time IMO.

I'm British myself but that wasn't my reasoning for including him.

Monzon's my all time favourite fighter, he's the first fighter I leigtimately followed along with Alexis Arguello. Both have soft spots in my heart which could be why I included him. I do think he's that calibur though.

Eder Jofre, what a call! Doesn't get the credit he deserves, though never truly breaking the world scene being predominantly a home fighter. Canzoneri was borderline top 20 for me too.

You know, so many people seem to assume that on here

                Genuinely have no clue why.

.....gotta give credit to those who posted above me for reminding me of some fighters I'd all but forgotten about.

I've ignored my love of this sport for too long....my brain's nearly turned to mush.

....that's p4p. I usually don't rank heavies I p4p rankings. They get enough clout as is; the little guys hardly ever get the press. And, if I can recall, the whole reason for the original p4p ranking was to say:

If Sugar Ray Robison fought, say, Muhammad Ali, who would win. It puts fighters on equal terms when in a fantasy matchup. At least, that's always the way I interpreted it.

Specifically, the fighters I'd almost forgotten about were Eder Jofre, Barbados Joe Walcott, and Kid Chocolate. It's been years since I thought of them....bout 7 to be precise; the last time I was really able to frequent this site when I was educated by some old schoolers then on Jofre. Sadly, I don't remember who it was.

Chocolate and Walcott I'd read about years ago and place them based on reading material, truthfully. I'm not sure if there is any footage of either.
