    Mayweather-Castillo I: Your Scorecard

Does anyone remember how they scored the first Mayweather-Castillo fight? My card was either 116-112 or 115-112, Castillo (can't remember which).

Do some of you honestly feel Floyd won that fight? If so, how did you have it?

As most know, not only did Castillo out-land Floyd in terms of total # of punches, but the gap was even greater when it came to the power blows.

If any fight is a Draw its this one imo

      Really! Interesting.

BTW, may I ask who that is in your avatar? (pardon my ignorance)

Don't recall my exact scorecard but I had Mayweather edging it.

I remember having Castillo ahead by one point.

I should just go back and watch/score it again.

I believe I had it 7-5 for Floyd. Castillo came on strong in the 2nd half, but Floyd clearly won the 1st 5 rounds.

I've watched it at least 5 times and I always had Mayweather winning. The last time I scored it 115-112. I think a lot of people got/get swayed by the commentary when it comes to this fight, and if you watch it without the sound i'm very confident you'd score it for Floyd. The compubox numbers really shouldn't be used as an argument for who should have won the fight. First of all because it's basically 2 people just counting what they believe are and aren't punches, and often they get it wrong. For example, in the Pacquiao-Marquez 3 fight they claimed Manny landed like 40 more punches, which I highly doubt he did, and you'd be hard pressed to find any credible person who thinks he deserved to win that fight. But even if he did, do people not understand that boxing is scored round-by-round? They don't just look at the punch stats at the end and decide the winner based on that. You can land 100 more punches in a fight but if you clearly lose 7 rounds then it's irrelevant. Therefore you can't use it as an argument to judge close fights.

I made a thread about this fight last year. Basically I think it was a fight of two halves, Floyd won the 1st half and JLC won the 2nd half, but Floyd won more of the 2nd half than Jose did of the 1st, in my opinion. People just got excited because Floyd got really tested for the first time, but I still thought he did enough to win despite being injured and outweighed by nearly 10lbs.

I'll watch it again tomorrow and post my scorecard then.

It's all good. Harry Greb by the way. Google him, he was amazing.

I don't remember I watched it not that long ago too but it was close like one person said a draw would have been best. Mayweather won the early half Castillo the other. Floyd gave as good as he got same with Castillo I never know what to believe on compubox numbers because they count lots of missed punches and blocked punches so I never take it in to effect.
