One of my preferred Chavez fights! Some atmosphere, a real cauldron of hate and Julio was wicked in there that night!

Julio never started quickly. In this one he was looking to put the hurt on Haugen immediately.

Gotta give Haugen credit for creating a great amount of extra interest in a fight he had no shot of winning.

I think I remember this one. Wasn't Haugen the guy that said most of Chavez's opponents he beat were "Tijuana cab drivers" and then when he got stopped by Chavez said in the post fight interview "those must have been some pretty tough cab drivers"? And this was the one where he came out to the song Born in the USA in Mexico?

I think Evander drew something like 30,000-plus to the Georgia Dome to fight Vaughn Bean.

Which is more than all of Vaughn Bean's other fights combined, x10, I'm sure.

I believe it was a SRR fight in the early 50s that drew 51,000 and spawned "Is This The Death OF Boxing" headlines. Dempsey/Carpentier drew huge, as did many of the fights early in the century. Willard vs Firpo drew 75,000.
