Given what I know up to this point in boxing history, the sport's best days are behind it. However, I don't think boxing will ever die, although it could remain on permanent life support, unless there's a meteoric rise of another compelling or controversial persona (e.g. Ali, Tyson) that would get it back into the headlines.

      BoxIng..where to now

I've been following boxing since 1960 and have been turned off by the
vast amount of weight classes. Everyone is a champ!

When I was young boxing was always a topic to be discussed...now I
can't find anyone to talk about it.

Fact is it is just not as popular as it once was. I bought 3 or 4 boxing mags
each month....Ring, Boxing Illustrated, KO, World Boxing.

Now there is still the Ring and 6 to 8 tattoo mags!

What was the last fight you couldn't wait to see...almost wished your life away
to hurry up the date. It's a bad mark on boxing that Manny and Floyd
      have not fought.

Sorry to sound like an old fart but boxing has lost some of it's luster. It's tough to get someone really psyched for boxing like the members of
      Boxing Scene.

The top personalities have NO personality!!!! Mayweather prefers to act like the "hood gagta" instead of the spoiled "I live in a almost mansion" in Vegas man!
NO sport news team wants to cover some jerk who says "man" every other word while he's talking to a woman. Or can't carry a conversation with out cussing!! Their just morons who are very selfish and could care less about the sport!! The kid Broner is a perfect example, if he can handle real pressure and weather the stom what will he do with the media? He already acts like a fool and it keeps getting worse!
I think Wlad has honest appeal but he is a BORE! He doesn't fight in the meca and guys like GGG aren't being able to get the right opponents to bring him forward. Andre Ward has the brains but has no opponents either! It takes a great personality to light the fire but its always with a rival or two to maintain the sparks!!
Ali had "Smokin' Joe Frazier and Ali should kiss Joes ass (R.I.P) everyday ofcourse in memories mind! Sugar Ray had LoMatta, Bassillo, Jordan and others. Dempsey had Tunney even though Jack was the most welknown athlete (not just boxing) but athlete in the world at his time!!! Ray Leonard had Duran and Tommy, Tyson had THE media until he started the really goofy crap!!
In modern times Leonard and de la Hoya did the best job at producing a Positive Imagine! The rest of them regardless of talent simply act like azzholes!! Mayweather is the biggest disappointment because he's more than capable of acting with decency but he's never grown up because of the wealth, thats why I say he just another pug with money who acts like a fool!
        Ray Corso.

There will be a compelling and highly popular persona in boxing again. I guarantee it. It's occured over and over throughout the history of the sport.

Dominated for years without losing? Yes, two for sure. Fedor Emelianenko, considered the best MMA fighter of all time in the sport's short history went 9 years and 6 months without a loss, beating every top heavyweight out there, winning 3 tournaments and the Pride and WAMMA heavyweight belts in the process. If Pride hadn't been sold to the UFC, his title reign would've lasted even longer.

Anderson Silva has been the middleweight champion in the UFC since 2006 although, much like the top boxers, usually fights only about twice a year now, so that's going on 7 years and 10 title defenses.

And Rockin', it's fine if you prefer boxing, but remember, boxing was also considered crude and barbaric for many years. Hell, it didn't even have a proper Hall of Fame until 1990. There is plenty of gentleman and precision in MMA as well, depending on what fighters you watch and there is plenty of art to it. Guys like Fedor, Silva and Royce Gracie have proven that.

Exactly and it took place in Radio City Music Hall and sold well, from what I've heard. So boxing isn't doing as badly as people say.

The posters in Page 3 got the point I was trying to make. This is a serious situation. How did the future stars of the sport rise? they rose by following the examples set by their idols. Tyson idolized Dempsey, he got into boxing. But nowadays the teenagers idolize, say Georges St.Pierre, so they will naturally go into MMA. This is robbing boxing of new talent.
