I saw Pimental fight a few times late in his career. Great puncher who was unlucky to land in the strongest bantamweight era. He deserved a title shot long before he finally got one against a prime Olivares.

One of my favourite periods of boxing. So many great fighters during that time. Some of them really could have done with being born a few years earlier or later, Pimental definitely being one of them.

He was an absolute beast. A horror show puncher. Vulnerable to genuine boxer-punchers though and I can't agree about the title shot for that reason - Mede land and Chucho got their shots beating him in title eliminators and Nakane beat him when he was well past his best.

The man deserves credit for the rehabilitation job he did on his career, but he has nobody to blame but himself for being made to wait.
