    Well your comparing arguably the best light heavyweight of all time with arguably the number 1 & 2 best heavyweights of all time. I wouldn't say that Charles deserves any greater accolade than Louis or Ali.

    On what basis would you argue that Charles deserves to be held in a higher esteem?

      Because he's a Top 5 ATG and neither Ali or Louis are.

        I think its pretty equal. I think that many historians would have Louis / Charles / Ali somewhere in their top 5s or at least top 10s.

        I don't keep a personal notional ATG list, but I'd venture that there wouldn't be much distance between Ali, Louis or Charles.

          Neither are Top 10 ATG's IMO.

          Ezzard Charles is top 5 at the very minimum. Possibly #1.

            Fair enough, its your call. Are there any esteemed boxing historians who support your view though?

            I just don't remember many ATG top 10 lists where Charles is rated significantly above Ali or Louis. Not that it matters much, as you know I think it is pretty equal.

              Perhaps not significantly as the consensus is Ali and Louis are Top 15 ATG's, 20 minimum.

              I don't really know any historians ATG lists but I'd be surprised if there were many with Ali and Louis above Charles and if they were I wouldn't consider it legitimate anyway.

              And I didn't say Charles is significantly ahead of them but he certainly is ahead of them.

                    It's not really bait though is it ?, Charles' resume is just as strong if not stronger then both Ali's and Louis'.

                      I think Charles is greater than Louis clearly but Ali is a little closer.
