Did you agree with scoring on duran leonard 1?

I thought Roberto deserved the fight but should have been more agressive in round 15. What do you think?

Yea, Duran deserved the verdict in a tough close fight.

8-6-1 for Duran sounds about right.

Yes he won the fight without doubt! It was an exciting night because we ran a live undercard to the closed circuit at the Hartford Civic Center with a young Marlon Starling on the card and a fellow that I trained heavyweight Ken Schmidt. The live cards as prelim to closed circuit events was a great concept and we held them in the "big" rooms instead of the "halls" that were a feature at the nationwide centers back in the day.

Duran had Ray rocked in the second round and thats when the fight began. Ray did a great job recouping and went on to fight a great fight!! Ray.

That Duran won the fight has never been or ever will be an issue. Leonard, not Duran, needed to be aggressive in the final round as he sensed (correctly as it turned out to be) that he was trailing. Duran, who could have been more aggressive himself, chose to coast as do so many fighters who assume they have the fight won.

One of the forgotten or overlooked anecdotes of the scoring is that it was initially ruled a majority decision. Upon further review of the scorecards it was officially ruled a unnanimous decision.

the footwork and head fakes that roberto uses to unleash that left hook that rocks ray in round two is amazing. This is a guy giving up 7 inches in reach to ray yet he tags ray hard from the outside.

Should of been wider for Duran.

Yeah, he won, but Duran was too overconfident in the scores. I couldn't believe he started coasting at the very end in such a close fight, especially in the last round.
