Tyson made me a boxing fan as well. And it also made me a fan of big punchers and warriors with heart. He made me seek out any other type of boxers with similar styles, like a Hagler, Hearns, Chavez, Gatti, Ward, Barrera, Lennox Lewis. Also, in that era, I enjoyed watching Whitaker, De La Hoya and Chavez and then later Lewis. I believe the first big fight I ever saw was Leonard/Hagler though, but it was seeing Tyson beat Bonecrusher Smith live on HBO that made me a fan for life. It wasn't until later I saw his early fights where he knocked out almost everybody and the title win over Berbick. It also saddens me to see how the sport is much less popular these days. I even made a thread about it here recently. Tyson is one of the few career sets I can watch over and over again.

I'll also never forget how my bedroom looked back when I lived in NJ back in 1988. I had Tyson posters all over my walls! Then I had a really huge one of him and one about the same size of a young Samantha Fox around a pole!! She was kinda my crush at the time. They were both side by side and you could see them from my yard People used to comment how I could put both of them together as though they were a couple or somehow related in some way...LOL

Here's another one. Tyson got him in, and he's got an ATG The Brockton Blockbuster in his avatar. Tyson also got us to look at the old time fighters, because he loved them. Tyson brought me Jack Johnson,Joe Louis,Rocky Marciano, 3 of my all time favorites. At the end of the day, Tyson was good for Boxing. The sport has not been the same without him. Im pissed as **** I cant watch my boy Wladimir Klitschko on tv today. You think a Tyson fight would not have been tv when he was champ???????

At first, when they had announced Tyson-Spinks would only be on closed-circuit my twelve-year old brain was concerned I may not be able to see it! That was my first PPV. After we ordered it and it ended so suddenly I was actually a little depressed that I'd have to go my whole summer vacation just watching 91 seconds of boxing!! My original prediction was Tyson KO 7 Spinks.

Incidentally, Lewis-Tyson was my last PPV...
