Marciano may not have any other split dec wins, but many thought Lowry beat him the first time.

Michael J. Thomas of the Providence Journal wrote, "Marciano did not win the fight. This reporter gave it to Lowry, six rounds to four.”

The crowd of 3,696 booed the decision and some wondered if Lowry had thrown the fight. "There were some questions as to whether Lowry, who had come close to knocking out Marciano in the second, third and fourth rounds, deliberately bogged down in his attack after the fourth stanza," Thomas wrote. "Lowry stopped using his uppercut after the fourth. He went into a shell and only occasionally landed power shots. He seemed to be carrying Marciano."

In his book , Russell Sullivan wrote the following: "It was Lowry, not Marciano, who was on the verge of scoring an early knockout, stinging Marciano with two terrific rights in the first round and then rocking him with two mighty uppercuts in the second. By the fourth, a staggered Marciano seemed just one punch away from being knocked out. But then, inexplicably, Lowry stopped fighting and retreated into a shell despite warnings from the referee to open up and a cascade of boos from the crowd. To many, it appeared that Lowry was deliberately carrying Marciano. Was foul play afoot? Was Lowry getting paid to lose? Or was he merely tiring? Whatever the reason, a revived Marciano managed to rally in the late rounds even though many of his punches missed their mark or lacked force. On the basis of his aggressiveness and constant punching, Marciano won a unanimous decision from the judges. Most observers felt, however, that Lowry should have won."
Lowry, who earned $2,500 for the fight, denied he threw the fight. "I beat Rocky that night and that’s it," he said. "He changed his strategy in the fifth round and made a fight of it, but I won two of the last six rounds after winning the first four. It was a hometown decision."
There ya go too. And, like I said, I'm not gonna just be a fanboy and argue that when that's, you know, a fact.

Yeah, "old opponents", mafia-controlled fighters who just agreed to be KOed, some of them so damaged, that they ended their careers.

Rocky was a heavyweight for the standards back there. Take one modern heavyweight, make him travel back in time, so he can grow from kid to man and probably he wouldn't be the size he is in the present. So maybe Rocky's fanboys are the most biased, but so are his haters (especially the black ones).
And you sound like the typical racist white Rocky Marciano fanboy who doesn't watch boxing but just likes Marciano because he is white. Well I know you are the typical racist white Marciano fanboy who doesn't watch boxing but only like Marciano because he is white. That pretty much sums up all Rocky Marciano fans. Which is why you can't grasp that boxing has weight classes and Rocky Marciano wasn't a heavyweight by modern standards and didn't beat any heavyweights by modern standards.

Lol also the fact that you think that there were no bigger heavyweights back in Marciano's time frame or before again shows me that you don't watch boxing and only like Marciano because he was white. There were 6'6 250 boxers since the early 1900's kid. Dany Daly, Fred Fulton, Jess Willard, Etc. The thing is black boxing fans actually watch boxing and are smart enough to realize there are weight classes. That is why you don't see black boxing fans claiming the 140 pound Floyd Mayweather could beat Joe Calzaghe. While white boxing fans don't watch boxing. They just hear that some boxer is white and then jump to that person.

Rocky Marciano wasn't a heavyweight and never beat any heavyweights by modern standards yet his racist fanboys keep putting him up with the all time greats. Marciano is the most overrated boxer of all time.

You sound like a sour black dude who can't accept that one of the greatest boxers ever was a late-starter not too big white guy. You see your hatred - everybody who says Rocky was great is a white racist for you - that is pathetic, a point of view of an inferior loser which is also proved by your words for "black boxing fans who are smart enough" - to be honest, being smart is not a very black thing and you are a racist which I don't care about, because of how we both differ in colour.

Yes, I said he was a heavyweight for the standards back then, not that he can currently be considered. I always say he often was the smaller and the lighter fighter. So he is one of the greatest boxers of all time, while overrated ones are indeed black: Floyd, Ali, Mike Tyson.
